The actor made a statement against the violence in Argentinian soccer when he accepted, in Catalan, the Mostra´s Prize of Honor
Mostra de Cinema Llatinoamerica de Catalunya: ….

He has half a hundred films on his résumé since he debuted in Witness, but for many he will always be Aragorn, King of Gondor, from the trilogy The Lord of the Rings, based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, which Peter Jackson brought to the big screen. And yesterday, without doubt, he reigned in the Llotja, where he received the Award of Honor from the hands of his good friend Juan Echanove. A few days' beard, medium long, slightly gray hair, gray suit, maroon shirt, well-matched scarf... when he arrived outside the theater, passions were unchained.
Solicitous, he shook hands, signed autographs and amused himself taking pictures of the press with a pocket camera that he also carried to photograph the audience and Echanove when he presented him with the statuette. After a long ovation, he read in Catalan his gratitude to the Mostra, so, if people were devoted before, he had them then eating out of his hand, without being spared the shouts of "¡¡Guapo!!" (Handsome)
After that, in Spanish, he dedicated the prize "to the 200 people that have stupidly died, in Argentinean soccer, and this is something the President can settle, and she has to do it, if Mr. Grondona wants (in reference to the president of the Argentinean Soccer Association)." He's a great San Lorenzo fan.
