Funny T-Shirts

Today we thought we'd browse the funny t-shirts available on Zazzle. Because there are literally thousands for sale we only could post eight on our small space here on the Marketplace News post.

You can use the keyword search at the top of any Zazzle page to find subjects ranging in any animal, color, rock band or religion. There is an option on the left of the page to even narrow down your search by product type.

So without time to waste here are a few of the funny shirts we found.

Lynnette Shelley

Today we are featuring Lynnette Shelley

Today's feature comes from Lynnette Shelley's store Curious Creatures. Her artwork has an earthy primal feel to it that has obvious Celtic and Australian Aboriginal roots to them. Sometimes scary or other times whimsical, her creatures call to the inside gut feelings we have in common.

She is quite an accomplished artist so I've included her entire biography from her shop. At the very bottom of this post you will find her official website where you can contact Lynnette with any questions. Or, you may do so through her Zazzle store Curious Creatures.

It goes without saying if you've been reading these news posts however, Zazzle is still having their free shipping anywhere on the planet with no minimum purchase amount required. "The coupon code JUNESHIPFREE must be entered during checkout to receive the offer." This is good until the end of the day PST June 30th.

Enjoy!
Quote:
Lynnette Shelley is a Delaware native who moved to Philadelphia in 1999. Her artwork has been displayed at various venues across the Philadelphia metropolitan area, including the 2008 Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST). Some of her creature drawings were featured in the animated short "The Spider Is the Web" shown at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival, while more of her artwork was featured as part of an on-screen art show at the 2008 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon. Lynnette has more art shows currently scheduled for 2009, including the juried art show at the 2009 Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA, one of the largest fantasy / sci fi-themed conventions in the world.

Deeply influenced by Celtic, Eastern, Asian and aboriginal / native works; art nouveau, abstract expressionism, and medieval artworks; fantasy and science fiction; as well as zoomorphism, cryptozoology and mythological stories and legends, Lynnette fuses these styles into her strikingly unique illustrations.

"I am a fan of a multitude of artists - from the various pen-and-ink artists such as Aubrey Beardsley and Edward Gorey to medieval illuminated manuscripts created by Celtic monks to Russian iconic artists to Japanese scroll painters and native artisans. I also appreciate artists who portray the world around them with a unique eye and a colorful imagination - Vincent Van Gogh, William Blake, Frida Kahlo, Marc Chagall, Gustav Klimt, Henri Rousseau, Edvard Munch, Susan Seddon Boulet and Walton Ford, to name but a few."

Lynnette's artwork strikes a primal chord in many viewers, with almost Jungian associations to the colors and shapes. Her animal art and creature illustrations are both primitive and sophisticated, and have been likened to images from an as-yet-discovered ancient civilization or culture.

In addition to her fine art pursuits, Lynnette founded Redeye Design LLC in 2007. Redeye is a freelance creative agency specializing in custom graphic and web design. Lynnette is also the co-founder of The Red Masque, an original avant rock band which has played numerous shows and festivals since 2001. Most recently, The Red Masque released a new album through an avant garde music based out of Colorado. They are currently working on a live album due out later in 2009.

More of his bio can be found in his shop under "About"

I have no education in art save a couple of summer courses in photography. Growing up with mental illness caused me many problems and I've never really been comfortable in a classroom or most social settings. But I love to create! In my younger years it was primarily sketching, painting (acrylic, oil & airbrush). In an accident in 1992 I was crushed by a pickup and car, which left me able to spend less and less time standing or sitting. I thought art was lost to me until computers broke the pentium2 barrier and started exploring digital art.

As far as I can remember, I have always sought to represent things in a visual manner. A trait I suspect comes from the Asperger's syndrome, a form of Autism without the speech impediment. I began expressing myself through art because my brain struggles constantly with words, especially when writing, the patterns escape me. But visual patterns! Now there is something my brain understands and drives me to explore. They say every storm cloud has a silver lining, this is the gift that comes with the curse of my insanity. Art is the one thing that truly puts the turmoil my thoughts are and allows me to be at peace.

If you like what you see...

please visit his other sites at Pikeo where if you click on the slide show feature you'll see much larger images. Also, visit Light and Illusion - Art by Randall Klopping.

REMEMBER: Now until the end of the month there is free shipping anywhere on the globe from Zazzle. You can read about this either on the previous post or on Zazzle.com thru the links provided.
