Mixed Media
|
|

Mixed media in general refers to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. It can be as simple as an oil painting with pastels. For example, I might work on canvas and combine acrylic paint, ink, and a few collage materials and it would be called a "mixed media" work. Collage materials that I use include: handmade paper, pages from magazines, newspaper, photographs, fabric, yarn, string, found objects, embossed metal, or packaging. However, when working in a mixed media mode, I am very selective about not adding too many extraneous collage elements to a piece. Many interesting effects can be achieved by using mixed media and I love to create textures, depth and subtle color.
